Facts To Know

Genital herpes prevention is a very important consideration for anyone that is sexually active.  Although this condition only infects those that come in contact with the Herpes Simplex virus, it is still very common for individuals not to know that they are coming in contact with it.Prevention of herpes is possible, though there is no guarantee of doing so, unless you are careful with your partners.  It is important to realize that there is no cure for herpes .  There are medications that can help.  On the other hand, through careful management of herpes, you can live a healthy and long life.

Do You Have Herpes?

A picture of herpes can be one way to begin a journey down the path of learning if you have herpes.  Pictures of herpes are only the beginning through.  You also must take into consideration the way that you feel.  Symptoms of the virus include swollen, red bumps, blisters, and infection like symptoms such as headaches, fever, muscle aches and nausea.  Many of these symptoms will only happen during a herpes outbreak and the individual may feel completely normal otherwise.  That said, they can still pass on the herpes virus strain, Herpes Simplex, to others even when they are not experiencing an outbreak.

Once you have determined that you have herpes, it becomes important to seek out medical attention for it.  Herpes medications are extraordinary tools in the fight against herpes because they often help to minimize the number of outbreaks that occur.  Medications can also help to ward off the severity of the symptoms you experience.

Preventing It From Spreading

If you have herpes, it is up to you to let your sexual partners know this.  Secondly, it is up to you to do all that you can toward genital herpes prevention.  Genital herpes medication can help, though.  The easiest way to pass the condition to another person is through and during an outbreak. Medications help to keep outbreaks from happening.  By reducing the number of outbreaks, there is a reduction in the likelihood that you would pass the virus on.  Spreading herpes is possible, many doctors believe, without an outbreak, but it is greatly reduced.

Preventing herpes from spreading also means educating yourself about this condition even if you do not have it.  Genital herpes is only one form of the Herpes Simplex Virus.  The other form is known as Herpes Labialis , which is the herpes virus that is spread to the skin of the mouth region including the lips, gums, and facial tissue.  Either of these conditions can be evident from the sores that form.  Both types go into remission where no symptoms are seen as well.  The cycle will continue for the rest of your life.  You should also know that Herpes is a condition that is spread from oral sex as well.  This is one of the most common ways for individuals to get the Herpes Labialis form of the disease.  Sexual intercourse or oral sex with someone that has herpes can lead to the contraction of the virus yourself.

Female herpes, male herpes and herpes simplex in children is growing at an alarming rate.  Though there is herpes simplex medicine available to help, there are no cures.

The only way to prevent herpes is to actually avoid having sexual relations with someone that has the disease.  Unfortunately, it is estimated that one in six people aged from teens through adult have genital herpes.  An astonishing majority of them do not even realize that they have it and therefore can not pass that information on to their sexual partners.  Though condoms and other protective methods can help reduce the risk of spreading the virus, nothing besides abstinence is a guarantee of it.
